Medical Doctor, Dr Abdulrashid Siddique from Aberdeen (now practicing in Qatar) and a student Umer, from Cults Academy, Aberdeen (currently studying in Qatar) volunteered in this camp. It was “Magical Smiles” very first overseas project which was a great success Alhamdolillah.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the camp, Sundal Welfare Society’s Chairperson Kamran Afzal said, “We welcome this great initiative by Magical Smiles and very grateful to these 2 overseas volunteers; doctor and the student. We hope to offer this service to other nearby schools in the future.By organizing such camps, we aim to spread awareness and sensitize the community on personal hygiene and good healthcare.”
Umar, who came specially to volunteer in this eye camp, said “This was a great opportunity for me to gain some experience by engaging with children who are deprived of the facilities that we take for granted, living in Scotland. It was a real eye-opening experience. I made friends in this school and hope to be back in this part of the world in the near future”.
Magical Smiles aim to Provide free of cost preventative, promotive and curative eye care services to schools in the remote areas of Pakistan with the help of local communities and organisations to eliminate preventable blindness. The Sick Child
By Robert Louis Stevenson
CHILD.
O Mother, lay your hand on my brow!
O mother, mother, where am I now?
Why is the room so gaunt and great?
Why am I lying awake so late?
MOTHER.
Fear not at all: the night is still.
Nothing is here that means you ill -
Nothing but lamps the whole town through,
And never a child awake but you.
CHILD.
Mother, mother, speak low in my ear,
Some of the things are so great and near,
Some are so small and far away,
I have a fear that I cannot say,
What have I done, and what do I fear,
And why are you crying, mother dear?
MOTHER.
Out in the city, sounds begin
Thank the kind God, the carts come in!
An hour or two more, and God is so kind,
The day shall be blue in the window-blind,
Then shall my child go sweetly asleep,
And dream of the birds and the hills of sheep.
